The ISO 11138-1:2017 and ISO 11138-3:2017 compliant 3M™ Attest™ Rapid Steam Biological Indicator, 1292, is used for 250°F/121°C gravity and 270°F/132°C vacuum-assisted sterilization cycles. This self-contained biological indicator (BI) consists of a Geobacillus stearothermophilus spore strip and a sealed glass ampoule with growth media and dual indicator system. The spore strip and media ampoule are contained in a plastic vial topped with a brown color-coded cap which includes a chemical process indicator on the top. When processed, the chemical process indicator turns from rose to brown. After the steam sterilization process, the BI is activated to join the growth media with the processed spore strip. The BI is incubated in the 3M™ Attest™ Auto-reader 390 for a final fluorescent result at 3 hours.
